Spicy Sweet and Sour Grape Tomato Chutney!

Ingredients

  • Grapes not overripe is better = 200 grams
  • Tomatoes = 200 grams
  • Roasted Methi seeds Fenugreek powder = 2 teaspoons
  • Red chili powder to taste = 1 tablespoon
  • Salt = to taste
  • Garlic cloves = 4-5
  • Oil = 2 tablespoons

Seasoning:

  • Red chili = 1
  • Mustard seeds = 1 teaspoon
  • Urad dal = 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves 7-8

Instructions

  • Cut the tomatoes and add grapes. Add salt to taste and cook in microwave for 6-8 minutes. When cooked, mash them with spatula. Add the roasted methi powder. (If you donot have microwave, you can also cook the grapes/tomato on the stove after the seasoning is done).
  • Next in a pan, put two tablespoons oil and when hot, add one teaspoon of mustard seeds. When they splutter, add a red chili and 1 teaspoon of urad dal. Add garlic cloves and curry leaves. When they are light brown, add the mashed tomato grapes and cook together for 2-3 minutes and mix well. Transfer to serving bowl.

Notes

When/What to serve with:
Goes well with white rice with ghee, cauliflower rice and savory snacks like Idli, Medhu Vada, Dal Vada, Samosa, Dosa.
Tips:
Doing in microwave while the seasoning is being done saves time.
