Plums Pachadi - “Spices a Plum!”

Ingredients

  • Firm Plums 5-6
  • Methi Powder = 1.5 tablespoons
  • Kashmiri Lalmirch powder = 1.5 tablespoons

Seasoning:

  • Oil = 3 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds = 1 teaspoons
  • Urad dal = 1.2 teaspoon
  • Hing = ¼ teaspoon
  • Curry leaves =5-6
  • Hing or Garlic 4-5 cloves

Instructions

  • Take not too ripe plums, cut in to small pieces and put in food processor on grate setting (low).
  • Cook the mashed plums in the microwave with salt and haldi for 6-7 minutes on 80% power
  • On stove put oil and cook the plums for 10 minutes. Add salt to taste. After it is cooked set aside.
  • Next do seasoning with 3 tsp of oil, dry red chillies, mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, jeera, hing and methi powder or roasted fenugreek powder – 1.5 teaspoonful plus 1.5 Kashmiri red chili powder to taste. Add the cooked plums to the seasoning and you will get a yummy pickle with the best aroma!

Notes

When/What to serve with:
This chutney goes well with rice and ghee, or with Idly/dosa/vada.
It will last 2-3 weeks in refrigerator.
Tips:
Plums should be not too ripe. They should be firm and sour/sweet/tart.
